Best Things to do in North Mallorca

There are lots of activities to choose from in this part of the island and we had fun returning to explore several times during our month here. Here are a few things we particularly enjoyed that we haven't mentioned in other blogposts for this region.

`

Cape Formentor

This gorgeous peninsula is at the northernmost tip of the island and we loved stopping several times to see the views as we drove along. Our first stop was at Mirador de Es Colomer which had a large parking area and an extensive pedestrian walkway with incredible views from every direction.

Then we continued driving along the road toward the lighthouse as far as we could. They had blocked the road road off so it was easy to tell when we had to stop! We got out to look over at the Formentor Lighthouse which was built in 1863 and enjoyed the views before turning around driving back the way we came.

On our return trip we veered off to see the Albercutx Watchtower. As we walked up to reach the remains of this old surveillance tower we passed some abandoned buildings that made for cool perspectives and pictures.

Then we reached the tower and enjoyed incredible views in every direction. I watched our bags while Jordan climbed up to the top with his 360' camera.

A scenic Drive on MA-10

Driving on this road meant lots of curves, rocks, trees, mountain passes and plenty of things to look at as we made our way through the beautiful Tramontana Mountains. These are images I took out of the car window.

Santuari de Lluc

One quick stop we made along our drive was at this monastery where pilgrimages started taking place in the 14th century. We wandered around the grounds a bit which are quite extensive and include a chapel, museum, restaurants, hiking trails and even hotel accommodations. It's also home to the boys and girls choir called the Blauets which has been based here since the 16th century and hold performances.

Lunch in Pollença

This old town was not as extensive as other villages on the island but we enjoyed walking a bit and had a nice salad at U Plaça and it worked out great as we were passing through to do other activities in the surrounding area.

Cala Sant Vicenç

This was a small resort town that had some nice coves with beaches. When we visited it was during the winter so most things were closed but it made for a very nice quiet time and I loved putting my feet in the gorgeous water. I imagine in the summer months this area is filled with people enjoying the area.
