There are so many amazing trail systems in Sedona! One of the areas we've enjoyed exploring is around Chimney Rock. There are several things here to enjoy depending on whether you're in the mood to hike, meditate or find a place to plop down for a view. We've even seen yoga classes happening here.
The first time we came here we didn't follow any particular trail and instead just walked around for a bit to get a feel for the area and enjoy the snow against the red rocks and dirt. After this little taste we knew we'd return!
This one is a 1.8 mile loop around the base of Chimney Rock and offers some great views. We've been back a few times, at different times of the day, and loved it every time. It doesn't have a lot of shade so in the warmer times of the year would probably be better done early or late in the day. We've seen some wonderful birds here.
Offshoot to base of Chimney Rock
From the above hike there is a short steep offshoot right at the top of this map that goes to the base of Chimney Rock. One late afternoon I decided to try it and the effort was so worth it! The views, both on the way up and from the top were truly spectacular. I found it very helpful to have downloaded the trail map ahead of time.
This is a beautiful Buddhist Temple & Park that has various small trails and areas to sit, meditate and enjoy. It is free and open to visit year-round and entirely run by volunteers. This is a short .3 mile easy walk to reach.
WOW. Everything looks so so beautiful. Look at all those birds!! That little grey one has the sweetest face 🥰 – is that the bushtit you were talking about?
