We stayed several nights at Willard Bay State Park which is right off the highway and close to Ogden. Despite the incredible number of flies/mosquitos, super low water level and highway noise it worked out well for us since it had great views of the mountain range and gave us quick access to get to my parents. I enjoyed wandering around one afternoon capturing some images of the birds I saw around the bay.
My dad had just turned 93 years old and it was really nice to spend some time hanging out, eating good food and taking drives through the gorgeous canyons to see the Fall colors.
One day we we drove through the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge which is one of my parents favorite bird areas. We couldn't believe how low the water was, and how much it changed the landscape, but we still found some beautiful birds (especially herons) to watch and some gorgeous fall colors.
The Avocet and the Clark's Grebe!!!!! An Avocet is the bird that started me birdwatching. I have rarely seen them in their winter colors, mostly in their summer colors. Nice capture.
