Spend a few days hanging out with my parents and getting in some fun activities we enjoy doing in the area.
We spent several days hanging out with my parents in Ogden taking drives, visiting and eating yummy food together. One day we drove up to Bear Lake and had a picnic in our car in the snow.
My dad is 93 and I cherish every visit we get to spend together.
Another day we took a drive to the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. It was established in 1928 and is one of the first refuges to join the system of lands now encompassing over 560 refuges in the National Wildlife Refuge System. It provides critical habitat for migrating birds, over 250 species moving through the area annually by the millions to rest and feed. It's close to Ogden and located on the ancestral homelands of the Shoshone, Paiute, Bannock and Ute people and a favorite of ours! It contains nearly 80,000 acres of marsh, open water, uplands and alkali mudflats and every time we go we see different things. We saw all kinds of interesting birds this time: hundreds of Trumpeter & Tundra Swans, Cinnamon Teals, Geese, Coots, Northern Shovelers, Red-winged Blackbirds, Goldeneyes and Clark's Grebe.
I always have so much fun with my camera!
Fun to see your parents Alison. I have never been to the Bear River Bird Refuge, but have heard about it for years. What beautiful photos!
