Texas Panhandle
We had so much fun biking the various trails through the park. One day we parked the car and rode a series of trails back down to our campground. Then Jordan rode back up to get the car. Just really great trails that are hiking/biking shared use. Another day we did the inner/outer loops of the Capital Peak trail (which is biking only) and was more challenging....but I did it!
I had fun capturing images of some of the cool birds that live in this area at the bird blind that the state park has near the Trading Post.
The White Crowned Sparrow - The adults have the bold black-and-white head pattern and the immatures are browner.

The beautiful, mysterious looking Cedar Waxwing. The red tips on some of the wing feathers are so cool and it looks like it's wearing a black masquerade mask. It was fun to watch them dip their faces into the water to drink.

I loved the colors of this Sparrow (not sure if it's a Fox Sparrow or Song Sparrow).
and the stunning Spotted Towhee

There were also Northern Cardinals (male & female), House Finch and Pine Siskin.

One day we hiked up to the Rim via Rock Garden and followed that for a couple of miles. The views across the canyon were just gorgeous and we could see out to our campground way below.

Evenings and golden Hour were just breathtaking with the lighting on the canyon colors. We even had a full moon one night and heard the coyotes calling to each other which was eerie and beautiful.
Looks like you're having a great time up there 😁
I can't get over the red rock!! It's stunning. Glad you guys had fun biking around. The Waxwing is aptly named! Its feathers are so smooth looking. And its little mask!!! 😭💕 I wish we could hear the coyotes, too! I bet that was really amazing.
