During our visit with Kev & Heidi we spent an evening out on this wonderful historic sailboat. We had previously gone out during the day for a three hour ride (see this post for details about the Duen) and thought it would be fun to experience it later in the day. As we left we couldn't believe how still it was, but we ended up with enough breeze that we raised the main sail and reached 1 knot. The calmness of the water, and the stunning colors as the sun went down, made for a truly beautiful and special experience. I loved the images so much I decided to just put them in a post all by themselves. I hope you enjoy them and get a sense of the beauty of the night.
We headed out a little after 6 pm so the golden hour colors were just starting as we left the inner harbor.
During the next hour the sun dropped and the lighting created a beautiful glow which radiated off everything.
As the sun began to get low, Jordan and I put on the harnesses and climbed out onto the front of the boat for a fun sunset picture.
Then we all just quietly sailed watching the colors as they continued to change and deepen.
After the sun dipped below the horizon it was time to turn around and head back into the harbor. It was cool to watch the lights come on all around us in the downtown area from this vantage point.
If you're ever here in Victoria....make sure you do this if at all possible.
